Meals provided

For an average of 75 children in Maun, Botswana, the day begins with bread and water. We introduced this small breakfast after noticing that some of the younger children were simply too hungry to concentrate until lunchtime.

🤸 Moving and building confidence

Everyone gathers in a large circle for exercise and positive affirmations.

📚 Learning together

The children then split into four age groups to explore the month’s topic like Botswana’s independence. The younger children practise counting and the alphabet, while the older ones complete writing exercises and prepare short presentations.

🍲 Sharing a warm meal

After another group activity, everyone eats together.

🛏️ Time to rest, talk and ask for help

The younger children can rest on our new mattresses rather than sleeping in the sand. Meanwhile, the older children receive help with their homework or speak privately with the teachers and social workers about challenges at school or at home.

🎶 Ending the day together

The programme finishes with everyone singing. Before leaving, each child receives another meal to take home – for dinner, for Sunday or to share with their siblings.

Many of the children have been part of the programme for some time and now share updates about their lives without being asked. The joy on their faces when someone remembers their name is priceless. 💛

Our Feeding Programme provides much more than food. It is a place where children can learn, play, rest, talk and feel seen.

🙏 We need your support to keep it going
